Weird song lyrics

Did you ever notice that some of the really great songs have lyrics that make no sense whatsoever?

Let me give you an example: I very much like ‘Some Nights’ by Fun. The song has a great melody and it lives for the drums. It also has a nice chorus, but what in the world are they singing about? What ghost is he seeing? What is he doing for ten years that bores him after five minutes? What were those terrible lies? The video is going with the war motif they have in one line of the lyrics and that is underlined by the drums. But the end of the song sounds more like a relationship focussed thing. Anyway, they got me good and confused.
I think this song has that in common with other great songs, where some part of the lyrics are just there to put some question marks over your head. Take ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ for example. The gist of the song seems to be that a guy committed murder and is now thinking about suicide. But then you get things like:” Scaramouche, Scaramouche, can you do the fandango?” and “Galileo Peek-a-boo”. The sentences do not make any sense. Not within the rest of the song and not by themselves. But because the song itself is so good, we all know them and sing them along. Sense be damned.
I am doing the same thing with ‘Some nights’ now. Even though I really would like to know what that song is about.

If you like, leave some other songs in the comments that do not make sense lyric wise, but are worth singing anyway.
